Founded in 2015 by Jason Schooler, Ullr Coolers was in the works for a couple years before that. Jason and his wife, Ullr co-owner Tiff, love to go hiking and camping along the beautiful trails of the North Shore of Lake Superior. Year after year the same crucial question would come up: How can we keep our beer cold when off the grid? With that question in mind, Jason began designing, testing material and consulting with his long time friend Wade Niemi, who is an expert in all things outdoors and has 20+ years of experience in outdoor equipment manufacturing and design. We had an awesome time testing out the prototypes on trails throughout Minnesota. In 2015, the first Ullr Cooler was released: an attachable backpack cooler, designed to pack in/pack out 12 twelve oz. cans and keep them cold along the way. Soon after, the line expanded with bags for growlers, and Ullr began working with regional breweries making branded growler bags.
Folks loved that our products kept their beer cold, and were handmade in Minnesota using high quality materials. We had fun designing new products like our awesome wallet can sleeves, bomber bags and farm box coolers, but were pretty limited working out of our garage. So, to respond to growing demand and product requests, we created Ullr Coolers, Inc. in 2017, moving our headquarters to Castle Danger, Minnesota and bringing in Wade as a co-owner. Now located in the Lincoln Park Craft District in Duluth, we continue on the pursuit of helping folks travel with cold beer, and keeping it cold. "Have Beer, Will Travel", that's what we do. So the next time you see us at a beer festival, brewery or out on the trail, ask about out latest adventure, we would love to hear yours!
